Agenda
Coordinator Update
Tim will be at the Walking and Cycling Conference on Friday (10th)
Had lunch with Alex Ehmann a couple of weeks ago. Discussion included how to organise what gets done; how council and RCC / other groups engage; what to do with the ATAG. Specifically I observed officers have managed to effectively neuter it in its current form.
Over 300 streets held street parties, and Twitter reaction has quite a lot of ‘our street is nice and useful without cars parked everywhere’.
Royal Parks are delaying the movement strategy response again: asking volunteer rangers to get views seems quite unscientific. LCC and others pressing them hard on this.
Bristol specifically spending money on decarbonising their transport: feels like our carbon plan could do this, too: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-bristol-61659300
Climate strategy: this mentions transport, but really fails to look at what the council can actually do to support businesses and residents cutting their footprint when it comes to transport.
Richmond Council: new administration is looking to change how the Active Travel Advisory Group might work.
Kew Retail Park: will be another significant redevelopment. 24th and 25th June for redevelopment discussion: https://www.jtp.co.uk/projects/kewretailpark
Healthwatch Richmond is doing a survey. There’s nothing obvious that we could link to on the survey itself: https://www.richmond.gov.uk/news/june_2022/healthy_living_in_richmond
Climate Safe Streets went well: asks are shown here https://richmondcycling.org.uk/richmond-cycling-campaign-climate-safe-streets/
LCC local groups forum unfortunately on Wednesday evening at the same time as our meeting
22nd June – other local groups doing a sunset ride to the Roebuck. Paul setting something up for us, too. https://richmondcycling.org.uk/midsummer-evening-ride-to-and-from-the-roebuck-wednesday-22nd-june/
Borough has high levels of SUV ownership: https://twitter.com/geographyjim/status/1532282901840244736
Council has launched initiative with short term cargo bike hire
Transport and Air Quality meeting: 20th June
Next council meeting: 19th July
