Emergency School Streets

The borough is going to get a *lot* of school streets. The COVID-19 emergency has accelerated council plans to provide safe ways for our children to get to school, and there are now around 15 schools which should hear something in the next few weeks.

We understand the ‘first tranche’ of schools is:

  • Broomfield House, Princes Road, Kew
  • Collis Primary, Cromwell Rd and Fairfax Road, Teddington
  • Darell Primary, Darell rd, Kew
  • Hampton Hill Junior, St James Ave, Kew
  • Heathfield Infants and Nursery, Cobbett Rd, Whitton
  • Holy Trinity, Carrington Road, Richmond
  • Lowther Primary, Stillingfleet rd, Barnes
  • Richmond upon Thames School, Egerton Road, Twickenham
  • Sheen Mount Primary, west Temple Sheen, East Sheen
  • St James Catholic Primary, Stanley Rd and possibly Wellesley Road, Twickenham
  • St Mary Magdalen’s Catholic Primary, Worple Street, Mortlake
  • St Mary’s CoE Primary, Amyand Park Rd, Twickenham
  • Stanley Primary School, Strathmore Road, Twickenham
  • Teddington School, Broom Road, Hampton Wick
  • Hampton Infants and Nursery, Broom road, HW
  • St John the Baptist Junior, Broom Road, HW
  • The Russell School, Meadlands Road, Petersham
  • Trafalgar Infants, Gothic Road, Twickenham
  • Trafalgar Junior, Elmsleigh Rd, Twickenham

Not all of them will be going ahead – the council has a plan for how it approaches each school, which you can see here: https://www.richmond.gov.uk/school_streets
The schools above are in the ‘urgent school streets’ programme, and they’re going to need your help if you’re a parent or neighbour.

What can I do?

If you support school streets, please make sure your councillor knows, make sure your school knows, talk to friends, and check out this page from our friends at Mums for Lungs to find out more about school streets.
